Hydraulic Ale Works
Hydraulic Ale Works opening soon in Elkhart Indiana! We had the opportunity to talk with Jordan Mullins the general manager about the new location, the beers and direction. Thank you Jordan for taking the time and congrats.
Questions and Answers.
Opening Date: We are planning to open either the end of this month, or within the first week in April.
Current Happenings: We are currently interviewing & hiring the staff needed to operate the restaurant. Ryan(brewer/co-owner) has already brewed 4 beers which include, Satori Saison, an American IPA, Belgian White & a Belgian Golden Strong.
Taps: We have a 12 tap tower and will only open with about 4-6 of our own beers, but we will bring in guest taps to round out the styles that we do not currently brew or have. Our brewer loves variety. We will also have 3 to 4 rotating cocktails each month, and a small wine list.
Emphasis: We are striving to create the entire Gastronomic Experience. Really putting a huge effort into Beer & Food Pairings. In the future, we will be doing Beer Dinners, & offering Beer Style Classes taught by our Brewer.
Capacity: Inside of the brew pub we have a capacity for around 82-85, including a family dining room. We have three total patios outside, which will double our total capacity. Two of those patios are enclosed, with the ability to roll up the walls when the weather is nice. Patios overlook Downtown Elkhart. We are also located directly on the Elkhart River!
Three Owners: Shane Dyer(Owner), Chris Hooley (Co-Owner/Controller) & Ryan Thompson (Brewer/ Co-owner). Shane and Chris have known each other for awhile, being college roommates. Shane & Ryan are cousins and had to come back to Elkhart for a death in their family. While reminiscing, Shane asked Ryan about opening a brewery. That sparked the initial idea and now the project is a reality. They were all originally from Elkhart, but moved away due to work. They always wanted to bring something exciting & new back to their hometown.
Ryan Thompson(Brewer): Ryan graduated from the Siebel Institute of Technology, and was a brewer at 12 Degree Brewing, Three Rivers Brewing Company, Ska Brewing Company & brewed for Goose Island!
Mat Ewing (Executive Chef): Mat has been a chef at Main St. Grille, Crooked Ewe Brewery, & has done numerous Pop-Up dinners around the community, most recently with his Pho inspired dinners called “Pho-Kin Ramen.”
About: ” With the river views, industrial interior, & relaxed atmosphere, hours could pass by at Hydraulic Ale Works. The beers crafted at HAW have strong ties to Belgium & the Americas, while the menu is Chef driven & focused on international flavors, techniques & fermentation.”
We can’t wait to revisit after the grand opening! Cheers to Hydraulic Ale Works!
